Amputations: what's the situation in Italy and the world?
Since 2001 the use of Dr Graziani’s technique on a nationwide scale, has progressively continued to reduce the number of major amputations in diabetics, according to National statistics, available up to 2010.
These amazing results achieved in Italy, have been the first one proving a constant and significant reduction in amputation rate during the last 20 years matching the WHO recommendation about fighting limb amputations.
This Italian primate has been recently formally cited by the past President of Italian Diabetes Society in an interview (see the link).
Unfortunately, leading countries such as Germany and US are far from reproducing same results and stand out in a negative position regarding strategies for limb salvage.
